Holistic Therapy

My approach

I consider myself a holistic therapist, meaning I take a whole person approach. I believe that in order to be truly complete, it’s important to pay attention to the mind, body and spirit. A holistic perspective blends elements of psychology with other philosophies of healing (such as meditation, nutrition, exercise, and other mind/body practices.)

A little bit about me: I started working in the mental health field in 2000. I began working with children, but soon I found myself drawn more to the parents than the kids. (No offense to the kiddos!) Most of the parents, obviously had their "stress cups" full--overflowing actually. It was then that I realized how much I love to see people reclaim their power and breakthrough the barriers that life has put along their path. Anxiety, Shame and self-criticism are some big ways that we humans stay stuck, and I get super excited when I can help people get released from those painful mind-habits.

I'm definitely a lover of knowledge and I do my best to to keep honing my skills so I can help people manage the stresses of life that come their way. I've been trained in a number of evidence based treatments, including: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness based approaches, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
